Versmemo works almost without your data. What we do need, and why, is set out here – first for the app, then for this page.

2. The principle

You do not need an account to learn with Versmemo. Without one, your verses, your progress and your settings stay on your device only. There are no ads, no ad networks and no cross-device tracking.

3. The app

3.1 What lives on your device

The Bible verses, your learning progress, your plans, your streak, your points and your settings are stored in a database on your device. Your device is the authoritative copy, and the app works fully offline. This data only leaves your device as far as the functions described in 3.2 to 3.5 require.

3.2 Anonymous account

On first launch Versmemo creates an anonymous account with Supabase. This produces a random identifier – no name, no email address, no device identifier that would identify you. The provider is Supabase, Inc.; the data is held on servers in Ireland (region eu‑west‑1, European Union). The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of the user agreement).

3.3 A real account with Apple or Google

You can turn the anonymous account into a real one so that your progress returns on a new device. “Sign in with Apple” and “Sign in with Google” are available for this. In doing so, Versmemo receives an email address from Apple or Google and stores it with Supabase. With Apple you may choose “Hide My Email”; the address is then a relay address from Apple which we cannot resolve. Nothing else is taken over: no profile picture, no contacts, no friend lists.

A Versmemo Pro subscription requires such an account, because without one your progress is tied to this single installation and would be lost with the device. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

3.4 Backup and restore

Once you have a real account, your verses, your learning progress, your streak, your points, your plans and your settings are additionally transferred to Supabase so that a new device can retrieve them. Without an account this transfer does not happen. The servers are located in Ireland (region eu‑west‑1). The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

3.5 Learning together

If you invite someone or accept an invitation, the following is exchanged between you for that shared plan: the display name you choose in the app, your progress in that one plan, and the pre-written nudges and greetings. Free text deliberately does not exist. No contacts are read and no address book is transferred. When you end the collaboration, the shared record is dissolved. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

3.6 Purchases and subscriptions

Purchases run exclusively through the App Store or Google Play. We never receive your payment details. To check whether a subscription is active we use RevenueCat, Inc. This processes the store's purchase receipt and an anonymous identifier. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

3.7 Reminders

The daily reminder is scheduled and triggered entirely on your device. No data is transmitted to a server for it, and there are no push messages from outside. You can switch the reminder off at any time in the settings.

3.8 No analytics, no advertising

Versmemo currently uses no analytics, statistics or tracking tool. Should that change, this policy will be extended beforehand.

3.9 Signing out and deleting

Signing out (Profile → Account) only ends the session on this device; your account and its backup remain.

“Delete all data” (Profile → Settings) removes your progress, your plans and your settings on the device and at the same time deletes your account and its backup at Supabase. Shared plans are dissolved. This is final and cannot be undone. Your subscription continues independently – it belongs to your Apple or Google account and is managed there.

3.10 How long we keep things

We do not delete on a timer, we delete when you want us to – and you can trigger it yourself at any time:

• On your device: until you delete the data in the app or uninstall the app.
• Anonymous and real account including the backup: until you choose “Delete all data”. We do not remove inactive accounts on our own, so that your progress is still there after a long break.
• Shared plan: until one of you ends the collaboration; the shared record is dissolved immediately.
• Purchase data at RevenueCat: for as long as the subscription runs, and beyond that only as far as tax and commercial law require us to retain it.
• Connection data for this page: processed by the host only briefly, to deliver the page and to fend off disruption.

4. This page

This page consists of static files. It sets no cookies, embeds no third-party content, loads no external fonts and uses no analytics services.

It is hosted as GitLab Pages by GitLab Inc. When you visit it, the host processes technically necessary connection data (IP address, time, address requested, amount of data transferred, browser identification). The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest lies in secure and trouble-free operation. The European Commission's standard contractual clauses apply to the transfer to the USA.

5. Your rights

You have the right to information (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). Please contact the address given above.

If you have a real account, the email address you signed in with is enough. If you use Versmemo anonymously we cannot identify you – we know neither your name nor any address. In that case we need the identifier of your anonymous account, which you will find in the app settings.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The one responsible for us is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia, Kavalleriestraße 2-4, 40213 Düsseldorf, Germany (ldi.nrw.de). You may approach any supervisory authority, however.

6. Changes

If the app's functions change, we will adjust this policy. The date above shows the current version.
